A wall lamp is an excellent choice if you're looking for a flexible light. It can provide not only low level background light, but can also provide excellent directional light in your home. Whether inside or outdoors, a wall lamp is a good item to consider.
What sort of wall lamps can you choose from? Well, they start from very simple fittings. Why not try a couple of wall lamps either side of a mirror? They can add that Hollywood glamour look, as well as making it much easier to do that make-up in the morning! Or why not add wall lights in a small, gloomy room? The light will reflect off the ceiling and make the room look lighter and bigger. Of course you can also consider wall lamps for outside of the home too. A wall light can be a great security feature for your home, as well as providing light for any outdoor parties or quiet gatherings you may wish to host.
A particular term for a wall light is a wall sconce. This is a term which describes a wall light which can give both general and accent wall lighting to a room. Many of the available wall sconces are designed to co-ordinate with other light fittings, making your room a very stylish place. They do, of course, come in a wide variety of styles. You can get them in modern or traditional finishes, and so you can choose something that really goes with the rest of your décor.
So where do you place a wall sconce? They traditionally fit midway between the floor and the ceiling, so that they can provide both general light as well as task lighting. Use them in groups or individually to add a special look to your room. Experiment until you find the right lighting scheme.
Oh, and as always be sure to match your light fixtures to rest of your room. If you have a country theme be sure to use that western country look when you purchase your wall sconces. As with anything there are tons styles to choose from, rustic, contemporary, tiffany and traditional to name a few. Brands include, Kathy Ireland, Murray Feiss and Sonneman.
