Over fifty years ago, Rose Feiss, Murray's mother, an immigrant with talent and spirit, began sewing lampshades to occupy her time while her son was serving in the Navy during WWII. She began this as a pastime, but soon many wives and mothers joined in this past time, turned business, for the same reason. After the war, Murray came back home and joined his mother's business and with his help expanded it to include portable lighting. By adding his production and marketing skills to these lamps he expended the business to include all of the types of interesting lamps and lights. Murray Feiss uses quality materials like solid brass, brandished alabaster, pewter, whatever the piece calls for, it is made with the best in it class. The majority of the pieces are originals created by the design department of the company. They are not copies of another designer; they are originals.
