Illuminate your outdoor pond with pond lighting

It's that time of year again where we are all in the backyard or garden, planting seeds, pulling weeds and finally finishing that landscaping or waterfall project. The last thing you need to do now is finally install your pond lighting.

For an intimate yet dramatic effect, pond lights have been a top choice with landscape designers as it is an inexpensive way to take something simple and make it sensational. There are many options and styles to choose from including halogen underwater fixtures, fiber optic lighting and waterproof spotlights to mention a few.

tips

  • As with any electrical or wiring project, you should always consult with a professional Electrician before taken on any project you are not familiar with. It's better to invest in someone that will create a safe and relaxing environment for you and your family than to cheap out on the job that can end in disaster.

  • As many types of pond lights will generate heat, you must also take care not to create heated water as your fish and pond plants may not survive in such an environment.

  • My favorite feature to add to any pond is colored lighting as you can change them to fit any occasion or season and create variety without re-designing your beautiful pond.
