The History Of Cooper Lighting

Cooper lighting Inc. was founded in the 1950s under the name of Halo Lighting.  From humble beginnings, with one warehouse in Canada, it has grown to an industry leading company with ten worldwide manufacturing facilities and thirteen brands of products.  One product is, of course, named Halo after the original company that Cooper Lighting sprung from.

In 1964, the Cooper company introduced its famous track lighting.  At first this was only for commercial buildings, but by 1971 they had noticed the success of the product and managed to produce a scaled down version for home use.  This track lighting is one which is still popular today, and can be seen in many homes.  In 1987 the company was officially named Cooper Lighting.

Today, Cooper Lighting has its main headquarters in Peachtree City, Georgia.  So what kind of lighting does Cooper offer nowadays?  Among with its commercial offerings, Cooper manufacturers ranges of incandescent, fluorescent, track lighting, and exterior landscape lighting for the home environment.

A good way of checking out Cooper’s lighting products is to look at their online catalog, where you can see the full range of their lights.  But here is a quick overview of the types of lighting they offer.  Recessed lighting is a good way to provide shape to a room, creating a good atmosphere.  Recessed lighting techniques include downlighting, accent lighting and wall washing – all types of lighting that provide interest to the room.  Try the Halo and Iris lighting systems for your recessed lighting needs.

Want to simply light a room?  The Halo range provides a good selection of basic lighting which is effective and attractive, including the standard track lighting which was invented by Cooper.  Another good lighting option are the HomeLux fluorescent fixtures, which can be used in a variety of residential settings, and also provide energy efficiency.

Remember that lighting isn’t just about the functional aspect, but about the stylistic aspect also.  You should explore the different lighting possibilities in a room, looking to light the room effectively as well as display your ornaments and prized possessions in their best light.  Don’t be afraid to experiment.
